Pre-Primary Education
A British-style early years programme with two clear departments
Hampton Pre-Primary is divided into Lower and Upper departments. Children aged 3 to 4 begin in Lower Pre-Primary. Children aged 4 to 5 move into Upper Pre-Primary. Both departments follow a structured programme informed by the UK Early Years Foundation Stage.
The programme combines play-based exploration with clear routines, early phonics, number work, handwriting, and social development. From the first day, children are immersed in English. They learn through stories, songs, guided activities, and structured play.
Our goal is simple: by the time a child leaves Upper Pre-Primary, they are ready for Primary School. They can follow instructions, work in a group, hold a pencil correctly, recognise letters and numbers, and communicate with confidence in English.
Programme
A broad programme built around seven areas of learning
Hampton Pre-Primary teaches children through a balanced programme that covers communication, physical development, early literacy and numeracy, creativity, and understanding the world.
Learning Journey
From first steps in school to readiness for Primary
Each stage of Pre-Primary has a clear purpose. Children move from settling in and learning through play to structured early learning and full readiness for Primary School.
Lower Pre-Primary
3 – 4 years
Children learn to separate from parents, follow classroom routines, play alongside others, and explore their environment. The focus is on communication, physical development, early phonics awareness, and building social confidence through structured play.
Upper Pre-Primary
4 – 5 years
Children develop stronger listening, early reading, number recognition, handwriting, and subject knowledge. They work with greater independence, follow multi-step instructions, and begin to complete tasks with less adult support.
Transition to Primary
School Readiness
By the end of Upper Pre-Primary, children consolidate early literacy and numeracy, build concentration, and develop the behaviour and independence needed for a formal Primary classroom. They move up to Hampton Primary ready to learn.
Teaching & Care
Small classes, patient staff, and close communication with parents
Hampton's Pre-Primary is built around experienced early years teachers, teaching assistants in every class, safe classrooms, calm routines, and regular contact with parents about each child's day and development.
Progress & Development
Tracking each child's growth and readiness for school
Hampton Pre-Primary pupils are observed and supported across all areas of early development so they are fully prepared to enter Primary School with confidence.
Admissions
We invite parents to visit and see the environment for themselves
Choosing a pre-primary school is a decision about your child's first experience away from home. It deserves proper attention.
For this reason, Hampton encourages parents to book a visit, meet the staff, observe the classrooms, and ask questions about routines, safety, meals, and daily structure.
During your visit, our team can explain the admissions process, available places in Lower and Upper Pre-Primary, what to expect in the first weeks, documents required, and the current fee structure.
This gives parents a proper understanding of the school before making a decision about their child's first step into education.
